Every year, SAVVY has the privilege of designing the Irvine Company Office Properties’ annual Brokers of the Year event. Held at The Resort at Pelican Hill, this three-day celebration honors top brokers for their achievements in negotiating key contracts for the Irvine Company throughout the year.
As a token of their appreciation, the Irvine Company Office Properties invites the year’s top 30 brokers from Southern California, Northern California, and Chicago to weekend of relaxation and fun.
This year’s event design gave a nod to the glitz and glamour depicted in The Great Gatsby. Festivities began Thursday evening with a welcome cocktail reception and dinner on the upper deck of the Coliseum Pool. Jennifer and the SAVVY team translated the extravagance of the Jazz Age by using a palette of gold, ivory, and champagne for the brocade, sequins, lace, flowers and feathers used throughout the space.
In keeping with The Great Gatsby theme, Executive Chef Jean Pierre Dubray composed a menu inspired by dishes popular in the 1920s.
Singer Sara Niemietz invoked the jazz greats with her soulful renditions of songs from the past and present. Jennifer chose to place the stage over the Coliseum Pool, creating a dramatic focal point against sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
On Friday, guests were free to enjoy all the amenities offered at The Resort, from a round of golf on The Resort’s renowned course or paddleboarding in the Pacific to a day of pampering at the spa.
Following the day’s activities, the grand finale… The Brokers of the Year Awards Dinner. The Awards Dinner was hosted in the Mar Vista Ballroom. With its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean and The Resort’s pristine green links, this space is no doubt impressive. Yet Jennifer’s sophisticated touches and use of art deco design made the space luxurious. Blush pink, teal, gold, champagne, and ivory complemented with sequins, feathers, jewels, and flowers evoked the extravagance of the 1920s.
Chef Dubray presented an elegant dinner menu – from the tray pass during the cocktail reception to the dessert offerings, the entire meal was truly decadent and inspired.
Once the awards program concluded, the dancing commenced, and dance they did. Guests embraced the playfulness of the Gatsby-themed party, playing dress-up with the flapper headbands, strands of pearls, satin gloves, cigarette wands and other accessories that were on hand. Sara Niemietz’s vocal stylings kept the crowd on their feet the entire night. It was truly one unforgettable evening… Until the next one, that is!
With a new look and location for the company’s Fashion Island store, GARYS Newport Beach feted the beginning of a new chapter with a Grand Re-Opening party in October 2013.
Family and long-time friends of GARYS were invited to not only take a first look at the new store but to also place their support toward a worthy cause. A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefitted Working Wardrobes, a workforce readiness nonprofit organization based in Costa Mesa.
Thank Goodness its Sofia (TGIS) Catering provided the tasty eats for the evening. Some of the offerings included tuna tartare tacos, artichoke and goat cheese stuffed prawns, chopped chicken salad, mini beef wellington, and an impressive charcuterie table. For those craving something sweet, cake pops, tiramisu, madeleines, biscotti, sweet lilikoi cakes, and the crowd favorite, Brutti ma Buoni, were offered at the dessert bar.
Setting the tone for the evening, the DJ and house band encouraged guests to dance as they shopped. Guests enjoyed great company, great food, great music, and a favor bag to boot as a “thank you” for supporting GARYS’ new milestone. All in all, it was a successful evening.
The glamour of the 1950s was the theme for the Irvine Company Office Properties 2013 Awards. This yearly event highlights the division’s achievements, and to honor their successes, Jennifer and the SAVVY team set out to produce not so much a party, but an experience, transporting attendees to a time when big band music defined an era.
Held at the Lyon Air Museum, guests were welcomed to jazz and swing tunes the moment they stepped into the venue. Vintage cars and warplanes displayed throughout the space made for the perfect (and not to mention impressive!) backdrop. Irvine Company executives and event staff dressed the part by donning pilot uniforms and Rosie the Riveter jumpsuits, setting the tone for what would be a fun, celebratory evening.
The awards ceremony kicked off with a grand entrance made by the Irvine Company Office Properties executives. Dressed as pilots, the executives were escorted to the hangar via a B-25 airplane, and entered through the open hangar doors that led directly to the stage as the soundtrack from Top Gun played in the background.
Upon the conclusion of the ceremony, SAVVY staff quickly transformed the ceremony space into a lounge and dining area, styled according to the theme with vintage furniture and props. Thank Goodness It’s Sofia (TGIS) Catering offered something for everyone, from crabcake sliders to pancetta and truffle mac and cheese. Dessert included ice cream from Sweet Lucie’s and made-to-order doughnuts from The Fry Girl.
In addition to dining and socializing, guests explored the museum and took advantage of the evening’s special access inside a vintage American Airlines DC-3 cockpit.
As a parting gift, guests made personalized flipbooks, provided by A Little Scene. Props including mustaches, glasses, and red bandanas encouraged everyone to tap into their inner child in front of the video camera, which would then use the movement to produce a flipbook. From the venue to the styling to the personalized touches, Jennifer and her team succeeded in delivering a fun, one-of-a-kind evening.
A select group of brokers were treated to a bird’s-eye view of Orange County’s coast to celebrate their success as Dealmakers of the Year by Irvine Company Office Properties. The festivities kicked off with a spread of artisanal cheese, sliced baguette, and fruit, complete with a champagne toast at HeliStream in John Wayne Airport.
Following the toast, the guests were prepped and ready for take off.
Upon landing, everyone was directed to Canaletto Ristorante Veneto in Newport Beach for a cocktail reception and dinner. The private Casanova dining room proved the perfect setting for this intimate gathering. The window-lined room lent an al fresco feel, while the floating candles and large, open fireplace made the space warm and inviting. Savvy used soft metallics in shades of blue grey and bronze for the table linens. Centerpieces utilizing gold branches; mercury glass; silver lanterns; and floral arrangements with red, lime green, ivory, and plum blooms decorated the tables.
Awards were gifted and speeches were made to honor the brokers’ accomplishments. Good food and great conversation made the evening a fantastic way to reflect on a job well done. To the dealmakers — congratulations on all your success!
We at Savvy have experienced quite a whirlwind of activity the last twelve months. “Busy” fails to accurately describe the variety of events that have kept us on the go, which run the gamut from corporate gatherings for hundreds to intimate cocktail parties for thirty. Regardless of size, the goal for every event we produce is to deliver on our clients’ needs, express their respective personalities, and rise up to the challenge of executing events that are creative yet tasteful, sophisticated yet without the fuss.
As we consider our work, we’re proud to say that our team has worked hard to achieve this goal time and time again. Now, we’d like to take the opportunity to share with you, dear reader, some of our favorite events from the recent past. This week, we begin a series called Savvy In Review. We’ll feature some of our most memorable events, which capture the diverse range of Savvy’s events. In the mean time, here’s a sneak peek of the series. We hope you enjoy looking back with us.
