Last June, SAVVY had the pleasure of coordinating Burnham Benefits’ 20th anniversary celebration. For Burnham, the milestone marked its success in firmly establishing itself as a leader in employee benefits’ consultancy. For this event, Burnham hosted a cocktail reception that also served to unveil the firm’s newly expanded Irvine headquarters.
The firm’s Irvine office features contemporary, minimalist design accented with eye-catching furniture and accessories. When conceptualizing the event aesthetic, we set out to showcase the office’s fresh new look and clearly articulate Burnham’s focus on wellness. From the décor to the refreshments, we blended organic and modern elements, including brass, slate, and wood finishes and a menu of seasonal ingredients.
We also staged food stations and lounge areas throughout the space to encourage movement, giving guests the opportunity to tour the entire office.
As a parting gift, each guest was given a bottle of champagne thanking Burnham’s clients and partners for their support. It was a fantastic evening, and we are honored to have been a part of it. Congratulations, Burnham Benefits – we wish you continued success for years to come!

Southern California generally enjoys sunny skies and warm weather throughout the year, so when we experienced frost and snow (yes, real snowfall!!) just a couple weeks ago, we couldn’t help but long for the warmer temps we Southern Californians too often take for granted.
Fun-in-the-sun beach weather won’t be upon us for another few months, but in anticipation of what’s to come, we have for you a recap of an event we produced last year that celebrated all the fun and beauty to be found in sunny California.
Every year, Irvine Company Office Properties (ICOP) hosts a fiscal year-end celebration to honor the division’s achievements. This particular fiscal year celebration happened to coincide with Irvine Company’s 150thanniversary. To pay tribute to this milestone, the design concept centered on clearly articulating Irvine Company’s place as a premier California-grown company, with particular focus on expressing ICOP’s presence and success in diverse markets. With this mind, we set out to highlight California’s diverse character – from its sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and vibrant surf culture to its reputation as the leader in farm-to-table dining and as the entertainment capital of the world.
With Casino San Clemente in San Clemente, California, as our scenic backdrop, the front patio overlooking the ocean was used to play up California’s beach lifestyle and the venue’s garden and front lawn showcased California’s rich agricultural history and prominence in the farm-to-table dining movement. Surfboards; lifeguard chairs; retro California postcards; Gidget-inspired beachwear and accessories; and pops of yellow, orange, and turquoise captured Southern California beach living while wine barrels, wooden crates, galvanized steel, and vintage carts conveyed a rustic — but contemporary — feel characteristic of California’s Central Valley and northern region.
Of course, the picture of bringing California’s best to life wouldn’t be complete without incorporating a little bit of Hollywood. Singer Katrina Parker’s vocal stylings set the mood as attendees made their way into the ballroom, but the event officially kicked off with a flash mob dance routine choreographed by Wonder World Entertainment featuring ICOP executives and staff.
Upon the conclusion of the presentation and awards, guests helped themselves to Sapphire Culinary Group’s delicious menu which included artisanal cheeses, salads, tacos, pasta, flatbreads, sliders, meatloaf sandwiches, and the evening’s signature cocktails: Longboard Lemonade and the Salty Chihuahua. Dance Heads was also on site and created some hilarious music videos.
Lastly, as a parting gift, guests were encouraged to “shop” at the farmers market we created for the event. Guests had their pick of the local and seasonal fruit, kettle corn, cookies, and sweet pepper jam on display.
Producing themed events is always great fun, and we thoroughly enjoyed being a part of ICOP’s celebration. We tip our hat to you, Irvine Company, for all your achievements. Congratulations on your 150th anniversary and a fantastic 2014!

Happy New Year, readers! We hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday season. 2014 had been filled with activity for us here at SAVVY. From birthday gatherings to large-scale corporate celebrations, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to assist our clients in bringing their ideas and expectations to fruition. We anticipate another busy, event-filled year in 2015, and we are excited to share those moments here.
With the start of each year, we begin our preparations for the spring/summer event season. While we can’t reveal the plans we have in store for the warmer spring and summer months just yet, we’d like to give you an idea of the types of events we produce during our busy season.
Last June, we kicked off the summer season with a silver anniversary celebration for the Masimo Corporation in Irvine, California. What began in 1989 as a small two-man operation out of a home garage is now a premier medical technology company with 2,500 employees worldwide and 525 issued and pending patents.
Masimo called on SAVVY and Sapphire Culinary Group to produce a 25th anniversary celebration to honor the company’s achievements as well as to fete its newly acquired 213,000+ square foot headquarters. Specifically, the company’s founder and CEO, Mr. Joe Kiani, desired to host an event that paid tribute to Masimo’s employees, whose commitment to the company’s mission to improve the efficacy of patient care through medical innovation has driven the company’s growth.
With this request in mind, SAVVY created an event with details centered on celebrating Masimo’s employees. 1,300 guests – primarily consisting of Masimo employees and also including friends of the company – were received with a grand welcome. Upon arrival, guests were directed to the Step and Repeat for photos, followed by a walk down the red carpet, which was lined on either side with servers handing each guest the evening’s signature cocktail – the Masimo 25.
As a nod to the company’s growth worldwide, SAVVY created a global tasting tour which invited guests to enjoy a diverse menu of regional cuisine from Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and North America. Since this event marked the guests’ first look at the new location, food stations were placed strategically throughout the expansive first floor, giving attendees the opportunity to leisurely sample a variety of dishes while exploring Masimo’s new home. The lounge areas were styled with furniture and accessories in black, white, yellow, silver, and gold and were dispersed throughout the event space, inviting guests to enjoy food and conversation both indoors and outside in the vast courtyard.
Special guests for the evening included City of Irvine Mayor Dr. Steven Choi and Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, both of whom gave congratulatory remarks on Masimo’s 25 years of success. Mr. Kiani and his co-founder, Mr. Mohamed Diab, also gave speeches of heartfelt appreciation to the employees and friends of Masimo for their unyielding support. Once the speeches concluded, the festivities continued as musician John Waite treated guests to his most popular hits. It was a great way to end the evening and mark the beginning of Masimo’s next chapter in its new home at 52 Discovery in Irvine. Congratulations Masimo Corporation! We wish you continued success!
Last November, Savvy was tasked with planning a tenant event for 2211 Michelson, a Kilroy Realty Corporation office property in Irvine, California. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, this event was designed as a holiday/appreciation party for the building’s tenants.
Deep plum, brown, and bronze served as the primary color palette for this event, with floral arrangements in shades of red, ivory, and lime green as accents. The theme for the evening was Spanish cuisine, catered by Thank Goodness its Sofia (TGIS). Guests were welcome to enjoy a variety of Spanish fare, including empanadas, Spanish meatballs, gazpacho, and the main event: paella made on site. Sangria served as the beverage of choice for the evening, and guests were encouraged to select a sweet or two (or three — who’s counting ;)) from the oh-so-tempting dessert bar. Judging by the smiles seen throughout the night, this was definitely a good way to conclude a Thursday evening.

Every year, SAVVY has the privilege of designing the Irvine Company Office Properties’ annual Brokers of the Year event. Held at The Resort at Pelican Hill, this three-day celebration honors top brokers for their achievements in negotiating key contracts for the Irvine Company throughout the year.
As a token of their appreciation, the Irvine Company Office Properties invites the year’s top 30 brokers from Southern California, Northern California, and Chicago to weekend of relaxation and fun.
This year’s event design gave a nod to the glitz and glamour depicted in The Great Gatsby. Festivities began Thursday evening with a welcome cocktail reception and dinner on the upper deck of the Coliseum Pool. Jennifer and the SAVVY team translated the extravagance of the Jazz Age by using a palette of gold, ivory, and champagne for the brocade, sequins, lace, flowers and feathers used throughout the space.
In keeping with The Great Gatsby theme, Executive Chef Jean Pierre Dubray composed a menu inspired by dishes popular in the 1920s.
Singer Sara Niemietz invoked the jazz greats with her soulful renditions of songs from the past and present. Jennifer chose to place the stage over the Coliseum Pool, creating a dramatic focal point against sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
On Friday, guests were free to enjoy all the amenities offered at The Resort, from a round of golf on The Resort’s renowned course or paddleboarding in the Pacific to a day of pampering at the spa.
Following the day’s activities, the grand finale… The Brokers of the Year Awards Dinner. The Awards Dinner was hosted in the Mar Vista Ballroom. With its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean and The Resort’s pristine green links, this space is no doubt impressive. Yet Jennifer’s sophisticated touches and use of art deco design made the space luxurious. Blush pink, teal, gold, champagne, and ivory complemented with sequins, feathers, jewels, and flowers evoked the extravagance of the 1920s.
Chef Dubray presented an elegant dinner menu – from the tray pass during the cocktail reception to the dessert offerings, the entire meal was truly decadent and inspired.
Once the awards program concluded, the dancing commenced, and dance they did. Guests embraced the playfulness of the Gatsby-themed party, playing dress-up with the flapper headbands, strands of pearls, satin gloves, cigarette wands and other accessories that were on hand. Sara Niemietz’s vocal stylings kept the crowd on their feet the entire night. It was truly one unforgettable evening… Until the next one, that is!
